SAIC Motor sells more than 600,000 vehicles in November

Sales of new energy vehicles increased by 1.5 times

SAIC Motor sold 601,000 vehicles in November and its sales volume has maintained robust growth during the second half of 2021.

SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company sold 100,000 vehicles in the same month, a year-on-year increase of 24 percent, and has sold nearly 700,000 vehicles this year, exceeding last year's total volume.

The monthly sales volumes of its star models, including Roewe RX5, i5, MG ZS, and MG5, have been over 10,000 vehicles, while the monthly sales volume of Tiguan L, Passat, as well as other middle- and high-end products manufactured by SAIC Motor’s major joint ventures have been more than 15,000 vehicles.

Cadillac LYRIQ, the first mid- and large-sized SUV with the electric vehicle platform Ultium, has received nearly 5,000 orders since its presale began on Nov 17, while the newly-released SUV Wuling Asta has become a hit in its segment market with a sales volume exceeding 15,000 vehicles in November.

The sales volume of SAIC Motor's NEVs stood at 640,000 vehicles in the first 11 months of the year, a year-on-year increase of 155.5 percent and still leading the industry in China.

The annual sales volume of NEVs is expected to exceed 700,000 vehicles, including 147,000 NEVs from SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company, as its middle- and high-end NEV models, including MG HS Hybrid, MG ZS EV, Roewe eRX5 and Ei6, have become its bread-and-butter models.

The monthly sales volume of NEVs set a record of 82,000 vehicles in November. Driven by ID-series electric cars, the sales volume of SAIC Volkswagen's NEVs reached nearly 12,000 vehicles in November, a year-on-year increase of 205.5 percent.

Since its launch, the ID-series electric cars have been setting record highs in sales volume each month. In November, its sales volume exceeded 8,000 vehicles and it is expected to exceed 10,000 vehicles in December.

In November, SAIC Motor's overseas sales totaled 75,000 vehicles and its overseas sales in the first 11 months of the year reached 603,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 87.4 percent, leading other Chinese carmakers.

The overseas sales volume of MG has exceeded 310,000 vehicles this year, including 245,000 exported vehicles and 66,000 vehicles produced overseas.

MG has sold 46,000 NEVs in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, and other developed countries this year, becoming a leader among China's NEV makers in expanding into overseas markets.
