SAIC Motor hits new high in vehicle sales

Thanks to a strong boost from independent innovative technologies, SAIC Motor's monthly sales are seeing rising momentum. Selling a total of 491,000 vehicles last month, the company reached a new high in monthly sales for the year, with both new energy vehicles (NEVs) and overseas markets achieving monthly sales of over 100,000 units.

The LS6, a recently launched mid-size pure electric intelligent SUV supported by SAIC Motor's MSP platform, has started large-scaled deliveries. Of particular note is the globally acclaimed 900V silicon carbide electric axle, which has garnered significant attention from the market and consumers. The Roewe D7 DMH, equipped with the "strongest hybrid" DMH super hybrid system, was launched on Nov 8. It features the industry's first "hybrid control brain" PICU, which reduces redundant components by 70 percent, increases system calculation speed by 50 percent and achieves a power response time of just 0.26 seconds. With the concentrated market launch of heavyweight NEV models such as the Roewe D7, MG Cyberster, and Wuling Starlight this month, the sales of SAIC Motor will further surge and are expected to accelerate its transformation and upgrading.

In October, SAIC Motor recorded impressive sales figures of 104,000 NEVs, exhibiting a month-on-month increase and securing second place among Chinese automobile companies. Its proprietary brand also demonstrated outstanding performance. The LS6 of IM Motors has received 18,000 orders within 20 days after its launch, and has now begun mass deliveries, dispatching over 200 units per day. The Roewe D7 DMH, with its outstanding overall performance, won first place in the mid and large-sized sedan category of the "2023 Hybrid Power Challenge". The sales of Wuling Bingo exceeded 26,000 in October and it is on its way to becoming the leader in the sub-market. As for joint venture brands, SAIC Volkswagen sold 16,000 NEVs in October, a year-on-year increase of 136 percent. Its electric ID models have achieved sales of over 10,000 units for the past four months, and led in sales among joint venture pure electric vehicles. SAIC GM's NEV sales surpassed 10,000 units in October, a year-on-year increase of 90.7 percent. Buick ELECTRA E5 and the 2024 Buick Velite 6 have experienced strong sales as well, bolstering the company's overall results.

SAIC Motor’s sales in overseas markets have also reached new heights. In October, its overseas sales hit 111,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 32.3 percent. Particularly noteworthy is the MG4 EV, recognized as the top-selling compact pure electric vehicle in Europe, with overseas monthly sales surpassing 10,000 units. This year, it will enter more than 80 countries on six continents, including Europe, Australia and New Zealand, the Middle East, Mexico, and South America.

SAIC Motor's battery factory in Thailand officially started production on Oct 31, commencing the large-scale production of its One Pack Battery overseas. Srettha Thavisin, prime minister of Thailand, visited SAIC Motor's production base in Thailand on Nov 4 and test drove the upcoming MG Cyberster.

In the markets of developed countries in Europe, SAIC Motor's MG brand has sold over 200,000 units (with NEVs accounting for half) in the first 10 months of this year, an increase of over 130 percent compared to the previous year's overall sales.
