SAIC Motor makes full-lineup debut at Auto China 2026

At the 19th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, or Auto China 2026, SAIC Motor made a full-lineup appearance under the theme of "More than Auto", bringing together more than 10 brands, including Roewe, MG, IM Motors, the SAIC SHANGJIE, Maxus, Volkswagen, Audi, Buick, Cadillac and SAIC-GM-Wuling.

SAIC Motor's showcase featured more than 100 vehicles, including over 10 debut models, across a total display area of nearly 13,000 square meters.

A series of major intelligent electric models made their debuts, including the Roewe Jiayue 07 concept car, billed as the "world's first AI-native vehicle"; the 2026 MG4, a battery-electric smart and fun hatchback; the IM LS8, a groundbreaking flagship SUV; the SAIC SHANGJIE Z7, a fashion-tech coupe; the SAIC SHANGJIE Z7T shooting brake; the SAIC Maxus eDeliver super range-extended van, the industry's first large light commercial vehicle with super range extender technology; the SAIC VOLKSWAGEN ID ERA 9X, a fully equipped flagship SUV; the SAIC Audi E7X, a smart performance flagship SUV; the Buick Electra family from SAIC-GM; the Cadillac VISTIQ, a full-size all-electric highway flagship; the SAIC-GM-Wuling Huajing S, a flagship six-seat SUV equipped with Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving technology; and the Wuling Starlight L, a long-range six-seat SUV.

Self-owned brands build momentum in the intelligent electric segment

Powered by SAIC Motor's core intelligent electric technologies, including full-stack electronic architecture, digital chassis, solid-state batteries and super range extenders, SAIC Motor's self-owned brands are bringing a wave of innovative intelligent electric products to market.

The Roewe Jiayue 07 concept car, hailed as the "world's first AI-native vehicle", embraces an "AI first" philosophy. Moving beyond the industry's conventional approach of simply adding AI to vehicles, it adheres to an "AI first, vehicle born around AI" approach, making AI the unified entry point and adapting vehicle hardware, functions and experiences to AI at the foundational level.

The IM LS8, positioned as a fully equipped flagship SUV in the 250,000-yuan ($36,593.23) segment, is the only model in its class to feature fully steer-by-wire four-wheel steering. At low speeds, the driver can make a U-turn with just half a turn of the steering wheel, while at high speeds the system helps ensure driving stability. The model comes standard across the lineup with class-exclusive bidirectional 24-degree intelligent four-wheel steering, giving the flagship SUV, which measures more than five meters in length, a turning radius of just 4.85 meters, more agile than an A0-class compact car.

The 2026 MG4, a battery-electric smart hatchback, was launched with new fashionable options such as Ice Crystal Blue and Almond Beige body colors and a black floating roof, along with dozens of upgrades to its OPPO smart cockpit. The entire lineup comes standard with the VMC high-speed tire blowout stability control system, while the new 437 Smart Fun version brings intelligent driving assistance into the 80,000-yuan segment.

The SAIC SHANGJIE Z7, a fashion-tech coupe, and the SAIC SHANGJIE Z7T shooting brake made a dazzling joint debut. Across the lineup, the two models come standard with five core Huawei technologies: Huawei Qiankun ADS 4.1 intelligent driving, 896-line dual-light-path image-grade LiDAR, Huawei Tuling Platform, Huawei Giant Whale 800V high-voltage battery platform and Huawei HarmonySpace. Together with eight comfort-focused technology features, they deliver a smart and comfortable mobility experience that leads their class.

The Wuling Starlight L, a long-range six-seat SUV from SAIC-GM-Wuling, made its debut and became available for blind orders. As the first large six-seat SUV in the Starlight family, the Starlight L redefines the standard for family mobility through four "gold standards" – design, range, space and quality – setting a benchmark as "the people's six-seat SUV."

The flagship six-seat Huajing S, equipped with Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving technology, made its official debut and will hit the market on May 8. As the first flagship model jointly developed by the two parties, the Huajing S comes standard across the lineup with the enhanced Huawei Qiankun ADS Pro, HarmonySpace and Qiankun Intelligent Vehicle Cloud. With ultimate safety at its core, it focuses on active safety, body safety and the safety of its three-electric systems to build an industry-leading full-chain protection system.

Joint venture brands accelerate renewal through technology co-creation

By deepening their collaboration with China's leading intelligent electric technologies, SAIC Motor's joint venture brands are accelerating their transformation and renewal, helping transition China's automotive industry from an era of "technology introduction" into a new joint-venture era of "technology co-creation."

The SAIC VOLKSWAGEN ID ERA 9X, a fully equipped German flagship SUV, was officially launched at Auto China 2026. As the first model in SAIC Volkswagen's all-new ID ERA new energy series, the vehicle deeply integrates refined German car making expertise with China's cutting-edge intelligent technologies. With nine advanced technologies, the ID ERA 9X puts the philosophy of "human-centric technology" into practice, balancing driving pleasure, family comfort and all-scenario safety.

The SAIC Audi E7X, a smart performance flagship SUV, made its global debut and will start pre-sales on May 8. By deeply integrating China's cutting-edge digital ecosystem with Audi's century-old luxury heritage, the model sets a new value benchmark for the luxury electric SUV market. Equipped with Momenta's R7 reinforcement-learning world model, the Audi E7X supports "parking-space-to-parking-space" all-scenario driving assistance, covering expressways and urban roads across China. It is also set to support L3 autonomous driving technology in the future, becoming Audi's first global model to implement the technology.

At the auto show, three new energy models under the Buick Electra family from SAIC-GM — the SAIC-GM Electra E7, Buick GL8 Encasa and Buick Electra L7 — appeared together for the first time as a complete brand lineup. From Buick GL8 Encasa, the first MPV in the family, to the Buick Electra L7 premium family sedan and the SAIC-GM Electra E7, a large five-seat new energy SUV designed for families, the Electra lineup precisely addresses the core needs of different user groups and establishes a benchmark for comfort in each segment.

As the culmination of Cadillac's 124 years as a luxury automaker, the Cadillac VISTIQ, a full-size all-electric highway flagship, carries forward the flagship DNA of the Escalade. With a commanding full-size presence, an executive-level concierge cabin, a million-yuan-class imported chassis, a highly rigid protective body structure and industry-leading intelligent technologies, it defines a new standard for full-size luxury SUVs in the electric era.

SAIC Motor's commercial vehicles debut new tools for wealth creation

In the commercial vehicle segment, SAIC Maxus released two major milestone achievements, backed by its strong position as "China's leader in light commercial vehicles" and "China's No 1 light bus brand".

The eDeliver super range-extended van, presented as the industry's first large light commercial vehicle with super range extender technology, was developed based on a "three bigs and three smalls" formula designed to optimize total lifecycle operating costs.

The "three bigs" refer to a major brand, large battery capacity and long driving range: the model is equipped with a 50-kWh CATL Tianxing battery, delivering a CLTC battery-electric range of 312 km and an energy cost as low as 0.05 yuan per km. The "three smalls" refer to small size, light weight and low fuel consumption: The Xingpai range extender is compact and lightweight, taking up no cargo space. With a CLTC combined range of more than 1,260 km, the new model delivers low-cost, long-distance wealth creation without range anxiety.

At the auto show, SAIC Motor's commercial vehicles were brought together with the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, its affiliated branches, leading global customization companies and supply-chain partners to launch the Global Modification Ecosystem Alliance, targeting pain points such as a lack of standards in the commercial vehicle customization market. The alliance has established three missions: giving customization clear standards by building product and installation specifications that exceed national standards; giving customization reliable safeguards by connecting data interfaces and sharing technical resources; and taking Chinese customization global by exporting Chinese standards, creativity and quality. Together, the partners will build a new ecosystem for commercial vehicle customization.

At Auto China 2026, SAIC Motor, which understands not only cars but also users, brought a full matrix of new products from its self-owned and joint venture brands, sounding the call for collaborative evolution in the new intelligent electric era. Its long-term technological reserves are being rapidly translated into explosive mass production, injecting strong momentum into the company's market breakthroughs.

SAIC Motor will soon serve its 100 millionth global customer. Amid profound changes in the industry, the company is relying on deep user insights to build a comprehensive software and hardware product matrix, continuously advance innovation in smart mobility experiences, and accelerate toward a new era of personalized mobility services, making every SAIC Motor product a mobility companion that truly understands its users.
